Pruning

Mature trees need to be trimmed regularly to remove dead or diseased wood and to remove excessive weight from the ends of branches. The overall health and structural integrity of the trees improve by regular pruning maintenance.

The end-weight reduction process lessens the possibility of branch breakage and hazards. Inadequate pruning compromises the health of trees, for example “topping” a tree ruins its natural structure, starves the tree by removing a high percentage of food-producing leaves, creates openings for disease, and initiates the tree’s eventual demise. There are several aims for pruning from safety trimming to crown thinning.
